Summary: The Connected Car Test Engineer role involves overseeing the construction and maintenance of test rigs and vehicles within the telematics and connectivity domains. The engineer will be responsible for system integration, test planning, and problem-solving related to connected car technologies. This position requires collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables are met. The role is based in Crewe, Cheshire, and is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for continuous construction and maintenance for a set of test rigs, test vehicles in Telematics, Connectivity, Infotainment & Diagnostic domain.
- Advanced ability to capture and specify the system integration and test requirements.
- Support the test & validation planning to sign off the systems and components in area of connected car.
- Responsible for flashing, coding and debugging analysis and problem solving on test benches and vehicles.
- Responsible for planning and managing project related activities on a Weekly Basis.
- Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in functional area.
- Intermediate understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business.
- Active participation working with suppliers for progressing project deliverables.
- Ability to solve complex System Test and System Integration related problems, with company tools.
- Analysis and management of several integration and testing related issues to identify the root cause.
- Collect, manage and analyse logs to find the root cause and deliver solution to solve the problem.
- Deliver presentations at appropriate level.
- Requirement analysis and development of test approach. Deep analysis or issues captured during your tests or reported by team and developers.
- Test automation (Python, Robot Framework, Anna Framework).
- Maintain and document test environments configuration and specification (e.g. test bench and car).
Key Skills:
- Experience in telematics, connectivity, infotainment, and diagnostic domains.
- Strong problem-solving skills related to system testing and integration.
- Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks, particularly Python, Robot Framework, and Anna Framework.
- Ability to analyze and manage logs for troubleshooting.
- Project management skills with the ability to report on project status.
- Strong communication skills for delivering presentations and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in maintaining and documenting test environments.
