Summary: A Security Architect is needed for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Manchester, with a hybrid working arrangement. The role involves implementing and supporting security designs, transitioning solutions into production, and ensuring the organization's technical architecture is secure by design. The position requires collaboration with technical SMEs and a focus on achieving measurable business outcomes through innovative security solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement, develop, deliver, and support security designs that match stakeholder's requirements, resulting in measurable business outcomes.
  • Transition solutions into the live working environment and ensure support teams have the necessary knowledge to run the solution in production.
  • Research and apply innovative security architecture solutions to new or existing problems, justifying and communicating design decisions.
  • Ensure solutions meet defined architectural goals including usability, performance, capacity, security, availability, maintainability, and governance.
  • Work with and advise other technical SMEs to achieve a fully collaborative approach to design.
  • Ensure the organization's technical architecture is secure by design.

Key Skills:

  • Wide breadth of technical knowledge across all technologies within Digital Services.
  • Good understanding of project management, particularly risk and issue management.
  • Understanding of Agile Project methodologies.
  • Ability to transition new solutions to support teams effectively and document the process.
  • Good knowledge in the design and build of resilient, enterprise-class, Microsoft-based environments, including Azure, Office 365, SQL Server, IIS, System Center, Windows Server, and Identity Management.
  • Thorough knowledge of web infrastructure, TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DMZ, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of web servers and network load balancers.
  • Business awareness regarding availability, capacity, security, and maintainability of IT systems.
  • Desirable certifications such as Microsoft or other vendor certifications, TOGAF, ITIL 4 Foundation, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CISM.
  • Experience with security frameworks (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials) and incident management best practices (e.g., NIST, NCSC).
