Summary: The role of Interim Finance Director is a part-time position (3 days per week) for a charity, focusing on financial leadership and oversight for an 18-month contract. The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO and manage the finance function, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and effective grant management. This position offers hybrid working arrangements based in London, supporting a small finance team while contributing to strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Taking ownership of the year-end process and leading on the statutory accounts and audit
- Keeping the rolling forecast accurate and up to date to support confident decision-making
- Overseeing grant management across international, multi-currency programmes
- Providing trusted financial leadership to the CEO and Board, with clear, assured reporting
- Leading a capable team with a collaborative and hands-on approach
- Contributing to scenario planning and shaping future financial strategy
- Playing a key role in the planned finance system upgrade later this year
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant
- Strong charity sector knowledge, ideally in international development or similar
- Experience managing grant funding with multi-currency exposure
- Experience leading small finance functions in organisations with income of £5m - £15m
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain a broader perspective
