Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Performance Test Engineer for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of 500/day (Outside IR35). This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a small team of specialists ensuring test plans are understood, integrated, delivered and automated where possible
- Coordinate and manage test schedules
- Build and maintain testing artefacts, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and ensuring decisions by teams align with the strategy
- Identify operational improvements and work to ensure a stable service that can be enhanced
- Anticipate and mitigate against project challenges or risks
- Work with and support third parties in providing testing services
Essential Skills:
- Best Practice test approaches
- Test Automation in CI/CD pipelines
- Load testing tooling
- Performance testing tooling
- Proficient around Linux based environments
- AWS environment experience
- Mariadb/Oracle/MySQL experience
- Capable of making and guiding effective decisions, explaining clearly how the decision has been reached.
- Able to make decisions characterised by managed levels of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase.
- Take ownership of problems and proactively resolves technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements
- Translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all
- Able to speak on behalf of technical and service management teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholders
- Able to share knowledge and mentor (potentially non-technical) colleagues
Desirable Skills:
- Understands technical governance and is able to participate in or deliver the assurance of a service
- Infrastructure testing tooling (Kubernetes, Terraform)
- JMeter
- Gatling
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- Pyroscope
- Load Testing
- Performance Testing
- AWS based message brokering, ideally Kafka or AWS SQS and SNS
