We have an exciting opportunity for an accountant to join our friendly and dynamic finance team providing support to the subsidiary companies of a high performing NHS Foundation Trust.To help us to deliver our growth strategy for the subsidiary companies, we are looking for a new Subsidiary Finance Business Partner; you will be an integral member of the finance team and senior management teams within the companies, providing overall financial leadership to the organisations and supporting the achievement of the Groups finance team vision.DutiesYou will provide financial and commercial analysis of all of the companies operations, supporting the companies to deliver their contracts to NHS Trusts as well as delivering to their shareholders. Working collaboratively, you will ensure the delivery of a professional, dynamic and proactive financial service to support the success of the subsidiary companies. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.Detailed Job Description And Main ResponsibilitiesThe Subsidiary Finance Team currently supports 3 Limited Companies with a collective annual turnover of 130m: UHS Pharmacy Ltd - Established since 2013, this company provides pharmacy services to the outpatients of the hospital. UHS Estates Ltd - Established in 2016, this company provides managed healthcare facilities including theatres. Wessex NHS Procurement Ltd - A joint venture between UHS and Hampshire Hospitals FT providing procurement, supplies and distribution services to a number of hospitals.Your Duties Will Include The Following To be the financial leader and business partner for the UHS Subsidiary companies with a gross annual budget of c 130m. To lead on the delivery and development of financial reporting, planning, forecasting and financial strategy for each company. To take responsibility for providing comprehensive and proactive financial management information and support the Company in driving corrective action against variances where required. To work with the Subsidiary companies management teams to establish and maintain a sound financial base with robust controls and effective cost improvement plans. To lead on the financial implications and scenario appraisals of service changes including financial modelling within Business Cases. To lead on understanding of the Subsidiary companies activity and income, advising on corrective action when activity is significantly different to plan. To manage, on a day-to-day basis, the Subsidiary finance team supporting their ongoing wellbeing, professional training, and development. We highly recommend you review this document and use it when completing your application as these criteria are used by hiring managers as guidance during shortlisting.Person specificationQualifications And ExperienceEssential criteriaCCAB qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, CIPFA, ACCA) with post qualification experience at a senior level.Experience in a finance management role.Knowledge of designing and working with spreadsheets.Detailed understanding of budgetary control processes and budget setting / financial planning.Broad understanding of financial accounting and control issues.Understanding of financial information systems.Excellent written communicator.Experience of financial project management/financial appraisal and forecasting.Attention to detail and use of forecasting and estimation skills.Previous experience of line managing staff.Desirable criteriaCurrent / recent knowledge and understanding of the NHS financial environment.Experience of working within an NHS management accounts team.Previous experience of working with Oracle Finance systems.Record of improving processes and reporting in previous roles.Experience using systems (e.g., Excel, Word) to prepare and present accurate, clear information and reports.
