What does a dynamics 365 contractor do?
Dynamics 365 contractors are engaged to implement, configure, customise, and support Microsoft's Dynamics 365 platform across its CRM and ERP modules, including Sales, Customer Service, Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Business Central. Contract engagements arise during new implementations, platform upgrades, module rollouts, and integration programmes connecting Dynamics 365 with other enterprise systems. Dynamics 365 contractors are used across sectors including manufacturing, retail, professional services, financial services, and the public sector.
Dynamics 365 contractors need module-specific functional or technical expertise. Functional consultants require deep knowledge of business processes within their module specialism, such as order-to-cash for Sales or procure-to-pay for Finance, combined with the ability to configure the platform to meet requirements. Technical developers need experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) for extending Dynamics functionality, along with C# and JavaScript for plugin and web resource development. Integration specialists need experience with Azure Integration Services, Dataverse APIs, and common middleware patterns.
