The Salesforce ecosystem is broad, encompassing Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Experience Cloud, Revenue Cloud, and the Salesforce Platform itself, alongside a vast range of third-party applications built on the AppExchange. Contract engagements arise across the full project lifecycle: discovery and requirements definition, architecture design, declarative configuration and custom development, data migration, integration with adjacent systems, user training, and post-go-live support and optimisation.
Salesforce contractors are expected to have deep, certified expertise in the specific Salesforce products and clouds relevant to the engagement. Salesforce Administrator certification is the baseline credential and is expected across all configuration-focused roles. Salesforce Developer certifications, including Platform Developer I and II, are expected for roles involving Apex development, Lightning Web Components, and custom integration work. For architecture roles, Salesforce Certified Architect credentials, including Application Architect, System Architect, and the coveted CTA (Certified Technical Architect) designation, are the recognised benchmarks. Since April 2021, the end client is responsible for making this determination for medium and large private sector organisations.
