The work involves building and maintaining financial models, preparing management accounts and variance analysis, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, conducting ad hoc financial analysis to inform investment and operational decisions, and developing reporting packs for senior management. Finance Analyst contractors are brought in to cover a vacancy, support a specific financial project, or provide additional analytical capacity during a period of high workload such as a budget cycle, year-end close, or business planning process.
The skills expected of Finance Analyst contractors combine technical financial competence with strong analytical ability and clear communication.
