Summary: The Waste Client Manager will oversee the Councils' waste collection and disposal service, managing a £30 million Integrated Waste Management contract. This role involves stakeholder relations, contract oversight, and resolving disputes while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The position requires collaboration with various departments to enhance waste management services and prepare budgets related to waste functions. The role is primarily remote with one day per week on-site in Southwest England.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Client Officer for the Councils' waste collection and disposal service provider.
- Deliver the £30 million Integrated Waste Management contract and oversee £14 million contracts.
- Resolve contractual complaints and disputes to mitigate risks and liabilities to the council.
- Develop and procure new services in line with government legislation.
- Manage client and contract management with waste-related contractors.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety performance as required by the Health and Safety Executive.
- Ensure compliance with permits, licenses, and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure a cohesive approach to waste management.
- Assist in budget preparation and monitoring of expenditure related to waste contracts.
Key Skills:
- Experience in client and contract management within waste services.
- Technical knowledge of waste collection, disposal, treatment, and street cleansing.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance.
- Ability to develop and procure services in line with legislation.
- Budget preparation and financial monitoring skills.
