Visiting Medical Officer - HNELHD Voluntary Assisted Dying New England and Mid North Coast regions Zero hours quinquennial VMO Hunter New England Local Health District invites applications from eligible candidates to join the newly established Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) service. We are looking for candidates living and working in the New England (Tamworth, Armidale, Moree) and Lower Mid North Coast (Forster, Taree) regions. The VMO positions will travel where required across rural and regional HNLEHD to support people who wish to access VAD. Applicants will have completed or be prepared to undertake the training required to perform the roles of a coordinating, consulting and administering practitioner as outlined in the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act.
Essential Requirements
- A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and fellowship
- Demonstrated current experience in the complex services that impact on multiple departments and stakeholders
- High level skills and involvement in clinical care, supervision, mentoring and teaching
- Current driver’s license
Key Accountabilities
- Providing high quality, evidence based, patient focussed management and care to admitted and non-admitted patients, families and carers who have requested or are undertaking Voluntary Assisted Dying Act in the roles of Coordinating, Consulting and Administering practitioner as outlined in the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022 with reasonable and regular travel within HNELHD to provide services to people requesting voluntary assisted dying
- Contribute to effective clinical management for the patient throughout their care journey
