Summary: The Vehicle Test and Validation Engineer role in Coventry, UK, involves developing and executing test plans for passenger vehicles, ensuring compliance with global standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute detailed test plans for passenger vehicles in line with DVP/validation schedules.
- Conduct performance, load, durability, reliability, vibration, and environmental testing; ensure compliance sign-off.
- Set up and operate test fixtures, instrumentation, DAQ systems (strain, stress, durability, vibration).
- Collect, process, and analyze engine/vehicle test data (performance, emissions, fuel efficiency, reliability).
- Strong Python scripting experience for data analytics, automation, reporting, workload tracking, and test timelines (MATLAB, Concerto or similar tools desirable).
- Automate test data processing to reduce workload and improve data quality and consistency.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and deviations; support root cause analysis and provide design feedback.
- Prepare technical reports, validation records, and documentation for regulatory, homologation, and internal reviews.
- Ensure compliance with global standards (IS, ECE, and regional regulations); support homologation literature reviews.
- Use diagnostic tools, simulators, SCADA, and data analysis platforms; implement automated tests (Python, CAPL).
- Collaborate with design, R&D, quality, production, and project teams; participate in design reviews.
- Support prototype and field testing; provide feedback on assembly, failures, and performance variation.
- Strong knowledge of engine dynamics, thermodynamics, fuel systems, and emissions.
- Familiar with DVP, FMEA, ISO/automotive quality standards; strong analytical and communication skills.
