Summary: The Operational Technology Engineer role focuses on the performance, design governance, and technical assurance of critical Operational Technology applications. The position requires collaboration with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure system reliability and support upgrades. The engineer will also provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers while maintaining expertise across various OT applications. This role is classified as inside IR35 and requires occasional office attendance in Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous performance improvement of critical OT applications, including monitoring, fault reduction, and asset management planning.
- Act as Design Authority for OT infrastructure, approving architectural changes in collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Authorise Operational Acceptance Testing, upgrades, and handover of OT applications into support, including go/no-go decisions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to RTS Technical Engineers to ensure high-quality support and project delivery.
- Maintain deep technical expertise and set standards across Platinum, Gold, and Silver OT applications.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of major incidents, working with internal and external service providers in line with SLAs.
Key Skills:
- Strong hands-on engineering or architectural expertise in OT environments.
- GE Vernova PowerOn (highly desirable / essential; equivalent technologies considered).
- ADMS and SCADA systems knowledge.
- AVEVA PI experience.
- ODMS (Operational Data Management Systems).

Duration: 9 months+ (2-5 year project)
Location: Remote but must be able to attend office in Edinburgh a few times per month
The Role
