Summary: This role is for a Trainee Accountant/Graduate Accountant in a firm specializing in the creative industries, particularly in entertainment sectors like Film and Theatre. The position is ideal for graduates with a relevant degree who are eager to start their accounting careers, offering full training and exposure to tax. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, liaising with clients, and ensuring compliance with professional standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements from client trial balances or books of prime entry
- Liaise directly with clients to gather necessary information at the start of a job
- Address client queries related to entertainment industry issues
- Collaborate with the Creative Industries tax department staff
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
- Manage your own workflow and communicate progress to managers/department heads
- Work to both statutory and client-imposed deadlines
- Ensure compliance with professional standards and ethics
- Update and manage the client database
- Review and follow up with clients whose period end has passed within 4 weeks
- Assist with clerical and administrative duties, including typing, printing, answering calls, scheduling appointments, and email correspondence
- Carry out other tasks as required within the job scope
Key Skills:
- A relevant university degree ideally in accounting, finance or mathematics
- A good academic background
- Excellent communication skills
- An interest in working with theatre clients
- Some exposure to preparing accounts would be ideal but not essential
