Test Manager

Automation Manager – Contract (Outside IR35) Location: Glasgow, Edinburgh, (Hybrid working – flexible remote options) Security Clearance: BPSS required We are looking for a hands-on Automation Manager to lead a multi-year Quality Assurance transformation programme for a major project. This role will head up the Automation Centre of Excellence, driving alignment between automation, CI/CD pipelines, tooling evolution, and QA delivery governance. This is not a passive management role — you’ll be setting automation strategy, enabling teams, managing frameworks, and directly shaping automation maturity across multiple concurrent projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Automation Centre of Excellence (CoE), defining automation maturity models and reusable frameworks
• Act as the strategic lead for CI/CD automation integration across test stages
• Oversee and guide Automation Leads, Analysts, and framework specialists across all delivery pods
• Take ownership of existing automation frameworks and knowledge libraries
• Design and maintain long-term automation roadmaps that balance tactical delivery with long-term scalability
• Champion governance: report progress, risks, and roadmap updates to stakeholders and QA boards
• Ensure automation practices align with programme-wide KPIs and enterprise objectives

What We’re Looking For:

• Strategic automation leader with proven delivery experience in complex programmes
• Builds frameworks for sustainable, scalable automation (not just short-term delivery)
• Thinks in terms of maturity, sustainability, and return on investment
• Leads teams with empathy, clarity, and purpose — from developers to exec stakeholders
• Comfortable operating across CI/CD, automation frameworks, and governance reporting

• Test Management & Reporting: qTest, Jira, Xray, Allure Reports, Confluence
• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Version Control & Build: Git, Gradle
• Automation Tools: Selenium, Playwright, Serenity BDD, Cucumber, Postman, REST Assured, IntelliJ, Gradle, Appium
• Bonus / Optional: OWASP ZAP, SonarQube, Burp Suite, SQLMap, Nmap, NeoLoad, JMeter, BlazeMeter, Testim, TestGPT, TestSigma
