Test Lead

Summary: The Test Lead role involves overseeing all aspects of software testing for a flagship Engine Health Monitoring solution within a dynamic team. The position requires the candidate to design and implement testing strategies, manage testing activities, and provide guidance to colleagues. This is a 6-month hybrid contract based in Derby, UK, for a client focused on developing innovative technologies for sustainable power solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Energizing a cross-functional team to come up with new, creative, and challenging solutions for test execution - by both customers (UAT) and software development teams (agile delivery).
• Designing, communicating, and implementing test strategy and approach for each project, including quality assurance, functional and non-functional testing, acceptance testing and defect management.
• Leading the testing activities conducted by the in-house and supply chain teams, managing all phases of testing, including plans, timescales, test deliverables, and auditability.
• Providing authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution.
• Develop, execute, and report on complex test plans from requirement specifications and refined product backlog items, in accordance with agreed standards.
• Ensure that any risks associated with the system test plan are clearly documented and described to the customers and colleagues.

Key Skills:

• Commercial experience in a rapid, bespoke software development team, operating with Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
• Experience of working with and managing supply chain development teams (in a test capacity).
• Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
• Familiar with Oracle and SQL Server databases, able to read and construct SQL queries.
• Able to create test data to support manual and automated test cases.
• Automated testing experience using Azure DevOps and modern testing frameworks.
• Previous experience of working in a similar role.
• Able to work unsupervised with a 'can-do' approach no matter what the challenge.
