Summary: The SQL Database Administrator (DBA) role at FDM involves managing and maintaining SQL Server databases for a public sector client, focusing on performance, availability, and security. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain SQL Server databases, including installation, configuration, and upgrades
  • Identify and act on automation opportunities to improve performance and value from databases, data stores, and data pipelines
  • Use database management system software and tools including both cloud-based and on-premises solutions
  • Apply knowledge of the logical database schema
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and regulations
  • Design and implement disaster recovery, backup strategies, and security monitoring protocols
  • Integrate and manage databases across hybrid environments, combining on-premises and cloud-based solutions
  • Monitor emerging database technologies and trends, including security features and vulnerabilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and incidents

Key Skills:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as an SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server database management and administration
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
  • Familiarity with database security best practices
  • Up-to-date with the latest SQL Server technologies and best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Technical Requirements: Azure Powershell, SolarWinds, Infrastructure as Code, Github, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Azure Monitor, Redgate SQL Monitor
