Summary: The Specialty Doctor position in the Wessex Neurological Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust offers an opportunity for senior registrar-level doctors to enhance their expertise in neurocritical care and neuroanaesthesia. Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in a 1 in 9 full shift rota within the Neuro ICU.
• Provide advanced airway management for critically unwell patients.
• Engage in clinical research trials and present findings at relevant meetings.
• Support and mentor junior staff and contribute to teaching.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
• Maintain and enhance clinical skills in neurocritical care and neuroanaesthesia.

Key Skills:

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Minimum of 5 years working as a doctor since gaining medical degree.
• Successful completion of FRCA Primary, EDIC, or FFICM exams.
• At least 24 months of experience in NHS anaesthesia and intensive care.
• Completion of anaesthetic “Initial Assessment of Competence” (IAC) Certificate or equivalent.
• Foundation Competencies signed off or equivalent.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
