Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive Mental Health Act assessments under the 1983 Act in both hospital and community settings.
  • Coordinate assessments, ensuring compliance with The AMHP (England) Regulations 2008.
  • Provide effective crisis intervention and support during high-pressure situations.
  • Actively participate in the 24-hour shift rota to provide consistent support.
  • Take responsibility for the 'on-call' phone during overnight hours from 02:00 - 07:00.
  • Support safeguarding processes and lead Safeguarding Enquiries for adults when required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, hospitals, and community services to deliver high-quality care.
  • Conduct out-of-area assessments when required.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified Social Worker, Registered LD/MH Nurse, Chartered Psychologist, or Occupational Therapist with 3+ years post-qualifying experience.
  • Hold a valid AMHP warrant or be eligible for immediate approval upon commencement.
  • Proven experience as an AMHP within a Hub or Spoke AMHP model in England or Wales.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage Mental Health Act assessments independently.
  • Ability to manage safeguarding enquiries and promote service user well-being.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and provide on-call support.
  • Must be based in Southampton throughout shifts (minimal remote working options).
  • Ability to meet the travel requirements of the role, including occasional out-of-area visits.
