Summary: A high-growth technology business is seeking a Sole Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support, reporting to the General Counsel and CEO. The role involves significant autonomy and responsibility, focusing on commercial contracts and stakeholder collaboration, particularly in the UK and US markets. The ideal candidate will have in-house experience in the technology sector and a strong background in contract negotiation and management. This position offers the chance to shape the legal function within the company while gaining exposure to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Sales and Supplier Management teams with legal advice.
  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including SaaS, MSAs, and licensing agreements.
  • Advise on various legal matters such as sales, employment, compliance, and trademarks.
  • Manage the contract lifecycle system and support its implementation.
  • Oversee external counsel management.
  • Provide RFP support and collaborate with third parties.

Key Skills:

  • 4+ PQE in a relevant legal field.
  • Experience in an in-house role within the technology/IT sector.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for commercial contracts.
  • Ability to advise on a variety of legal matters.
  • Experience managing contract lifecycle systems.

Your new company & role

A high-growth technology business is looking for a skilled commercial lawyer to support as the Sole Legal Counsel. The role will report to the parent company's General Counsel as well as have a dotted line to the CEO, so you will have significant autonomy and a wide breadth of responsibility, while being supported by several members of the business. You will work closely with various stakeholders, particularly supporting the Sales and Supplier Management teams. The position will initially focus on the UK and US markets, where the company currently has a strong presence, but they are looking to expand into other markets very quickly.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, self-starter with an ability to take initiative. You will have previously worked in an in-house role in the technology/ IT sector and enjoy a fast-paced environment. Strong experience drafting and negotiating a wide scope of commercial contracts (SaaS, MSAs, statements of work, professional services agreements, licensing). Experience working with third parties (distributors, subcontractors etc.) and referral agreements. Ability to advise across a range of matters, including, but not limited to, sales, employment, compliance and trademarks. Demonstrated involvement in RFP support. Previous experience managing the contract lifecycle system and supporting implementation. Experience managing external counsel. 4+ PQE as a guideline.
