Software Engineer - Data Analysis - Java - Python - SQL - AI tooling - Glasgow Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Do you enjoy hands-on technical analysis, software development and data architecture and are you looking for your next challenge?
I am working with an Investment Banking client in Glasgow who is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a global Front Office technology team.
You will be working closely with the business and focuses on understanding, documenting and improving complex data flows across a large trading platform. Work across multiple systems and technologies, you will help bring clarity to how data is sourced, transformed and consumed, while supporting wider data governance and transparency initiatives.
There is also a strong emphasis on using AI-enabled tools to automate analysis and documentation wherever possible.
I am therefore keen to speak with candidates who have
- Strong development experience using Java and/or Python
- Solid understanding of relational databases and complex SQL queries
- Experience working with enterprise data, data architecture, metadata or lineage concepts
- Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems and codebases
- Practical experience using LLM or AI tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT or similar
- Familiarity with version control and modern engineering practices
- Previous experience in financial services technology
Desirable experience
- Experience supporting front office or trading technology teams
- Knowledge of equity derivatives or equity linked products
