Summary: The Service Designer role at Sport England involves reviewing and redesigning existing services to enhance user experience and improve outcomes through collaboration across teams. The position requires a focus on user-centered design, business processes, and effective communication to engage colleagues. The Service Designer will utilize data and insights to inform service design and ensure alignment with organizational goals. This is a short-term project aimed at fostering a culture of active participation in sports and physical activities across England.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of a service using data, research and insight, through collaboration with other Sport England colleagues to ensure user (internal and external) needs are met.
- Review existing services to understand why and how they need to change, from user centred, business and system perspectives.
- Identify how Sport England can improve outcomes though the redesign of user experience, business processes and better collaboration across systems.
- Map and prototype the initial service experience and define a future journey to make the service effective.
- Balance user needs and business goals across the service, and enable delivery through pragmatic iteration.
- Visually represent the work, thinking and design to graphically support storytelling and positively engaging colleagues.
- Help to bring colleagues with us, and to demystify/decomplexify how we talk about and share our work!

- Deliver at pace using agile methodologies and principles.
- Expertise in and demonstrable experience of service design principles, practices and methods.
