Summary: The Senior Project Engineer role involves managing the initiation and development of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and overseeing contractor performance. The position requires effective communication and relationship-building skills, along with project management expertise. The role also includes vendor management and occasional offshore trips to monitor project progress. This position is based in Aberdeen, Scotland, for a duration of 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the initiation, development and routing of work through the work initiation and eMoC process
- Provides support in the areas of feasibility, scope definition, cost and schedule
- Ensure compilation of work scopes and work specifications
- Ensure execution of work and deliverables are compliant with project requirements
- Input into the review and monitoring of delivery programs and cost estimates
- Input into the preparation of project control documents and processes and their upkeep
- Project management of engineering/construction contractor and other key service providers, review and challenge of contractor performance, review of work schedules/plans, identifying opportunities to improve performance, reduce costs, maximise use of resources, etc.
- Occasional offshore trips required to monitor/plan progress and oversee key tasks
- Vendor management, package management and interface with 3rd Party Contractors
Key Skills:
- Degree in engineering discipline
- Project management qualifications e.g., APM, PMI, PRINCE2 (preferred)
- Current Offshore Survival Certificate (preferred)
- Project engineering experience
- Highly effective relationship builder at all levels, internally and externally
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, interpersonal, written and presentation)
- Strong initiative and orientation towards focused delivery
- Experience of applying risk and change management processes
- Past exposure to multi-discipline work
- Knowledge of process/engineering drawings & schematics
- Knowledge of project delivery framework for decision making and assurance (preferred)
- Knowledge and experience of financial control, cost estimating and planning (preferred)
- Design engineering awareness and good understanding of codes, standards, risk-based decision making, quality assurance and compliance (preferred)
- Experience in systems for construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities (Orbit System or equivalent knowledge) (preferred)
- Experience of CMMS systems (Maximo) (preferred)
