Summary: The Senior Planner will play a crucial role in supporting the central planning team by managing schedules, forecasting resources, and monitoring performance to align with project milestones and commercial objectives. This position emphasizes the implementation of Earned Value Management (EVM) to assess schedule and cost performance. The role requires collaboration with project stakeholders and delivery partners to ensure effective planning and coordination. The Senior Planner will also be responsible for producing accurate schedules and reporting on planning KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain fully integrated, logic-linked construction schedules.
  • Lead planning and coordination efforts across project stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Prepare and assess programme scenarios to analyse delivery impacts and mitigation strategies.
  • Drive compliance with planning tools, methodologies, and project controls procedures.
  • Coordinate schedule submissions and updates from delivery partners and contractors.
  • Support implementation of Earned Value Management by aligning physical progress with cost performance.
  • Ensure seamless transition from short-term lookahead planning to long-term programme milestones.
  • Produce accurate and resource-loaded schedules that reflect contractor and delivery partner inputs.
  • Provide detailed schedule extracts for lookahead planning and site coordination.
  • Identify key constraints, delivery risks, and interface requirements.
  • Generate resource and material forecasts to support delivery readiness.
  • Develop and report on planning KPIs, including Earned Value (SPI/CPI), variance analysis, and schedule adherence.
  • Capture and share lessons learned to improve planning effectiveness across the programme.

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in planning roles on large-scale or high-complexity projects.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and familiarity with planning/project controls systems.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value principles and performance tracking metrics.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to liaise with stakeholders across all levels.
  • Understanding of NEC, JCT, or similar construction contract frameworks.
  • Experience working within high-security or regulated environments is advantageous.
  • Solid grasp of construction logistics, resource planning, and programme risk management.
