Summary: The Payroll Manager role involves overseeing end-to-end payroll processing for a large business in Nottingham, ensuring compliance with regulations and managing a team of payroll administrators. The position is initially a 12-month contract with the potential for permanent employment, and while it can be fully remote, occasional travel to Nottingham is preferred. The role requires strong leadership and collaboration with various internal stakeholders to maintain accurate payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end UK payroll processing on a monthly and/or weekly basis.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and employment law, including RTI, National Minimum Wage, pension auto-enrolment, and statutory payments.
  • Oversee year-end processes including P60s, P11Ds, and benefit-in-kind reporting.
  • Manage relationships with pension providers and ensure auto-enrolment duties are fulfilled.
  • Lead and support a team of payroll administrators, fostering development and high performance.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, Legal) to ensure accurate payroll data and reporting.
  • Maintain and update payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manage payroll audits (internal/external) and ensure robust governance.
  • Drive system improvements and participate in payroll system upgrades, integrations, or transitions.
  • Ensure accurate reporting for finance and budgeting, including payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Provide guidance on payroll implications for business changes, such as TUPE transfers, acquisitions, and restructures.
  • Manage a team of 7/8 people.
