Summary: As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for network engineering design, development, and testing activities, ensuring network services meet organizational requirements. You will handle client issues from inception to resolution and participate in project work as needed. The role requires daily monitoring of network status, technical leadership, and collaboration with various stakeholders to resolve service issues. Additionally, maintaining knowledge of network technologies and managing capacity and availability will be key aspects of your responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing the status of various networks daily and logging incidents as appropriate.
- Escalating potential breaches of deadlines to the Network Manager.
- Acting as the technical lead and point of escalation for technical issues.
- Collaborating with customers, project leads, and stakeholders to resolve technical service issues.
- Assisting with design, development, and testing of project-based work.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on network technologies.
- Assisting with capacity and availability management of networks.
- Investigating and resolving problems within the area of responsibility.
- Provisioning network services and devices as needed.
Key Skills:
- Experience in a large and complex network environment at a Senior network engineering level.
- Certification with major network vendors (e.g., JNCIS-ENT, JNCIS-DC, JNCIA-SEC).
- Strong technical investigation and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in IT service management based on ITIL standards.
- Experience working in a secure environment is ideal.
- Data Centre experience is advantageous.
- High personal standards in safety, health, security, and quality.
- Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to document processes and configurations clearly.

JOB DESCRIPTION - Senior Network Engineer
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be employed to undertake a defined range of Network engineering design, development and test activities. You will contribute towards ensuring that the capacity, reliability and availability of network services meet the requirements of the organisation. You will also assist with the resolution of client-based issues, this will require taking ownership of such cases from the outset all the way through to resolution. You will also be expected to undertake any project work requirements on request.
The role will include:
Reviewing, on a daily basis, the status of a various networks, logging incidents where appropriate.
Escalating, in advance, to the Network Manager any likely breaches of agreed deadlines.
As the technical lead within the team you will be the point of escalation for any technical issues and queries, and assist with prioritisation and tasking to other team members.
Working with customers, project leads, 3rd parties and other stakeholders to discuss technical service issues assisting with the resolution of said issues.
Working with project leads to assist with design, development and testing of project-based work such as creating LLD's.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on network technologies.
Working to assist with capacity & availability management of various networks.
Problem Solving: investigate and resolve problems for services within their own area of responsibility.
Provisioning network services and devices where appropriate.
The Candidate:
Experience of support in a large and complex network environment at a Senior network engineering level
Experience/certification with at least one of the major network vendors. - JNCIS-ENT, JNCIS-DC (preferably JNCIP-DC), JNCIA-SEC
Good technical investigation and problem-solving skills.
Experience in IT service management and delivery based on ITIL service management standards.
Ideally experience of working in a secure environment.
Data Centre experience advantageous.
Working to high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to document processes and configurations clearly.
