Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, development, and improvement of digital services across government.
  • Implement and maintain robust, scalable microservice architectures.
  • Develop and enhance APIs for internal and external use.
  • Build and maintain automated test suites to support continuous deployment.
  • Participate in pair programming and Agile ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with the wider development community to adopt and share best practices.
  • Support applications and platforms, including occasional out-of-hours 2nd line support.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Key Skills:

  • Recent experience with Java 21 (or later).
  • Strong knowledge of TDD (Test-Driven Development) and BDD (Behaviour-Driven Development).
  • Proven experience working with large-scale microservices.
  • Solid background in Agile software delivery.
  • Comfortable working in a pair programming environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Unix-like operating systems (Linux/Mac OS X).
  • Understanding of Responsive Web Design principles.
  • Ability to research and learn new tools and techniques quickly.

Salary (Rate): £700 per day

My client is looking for an outstanding Java Developer to join an Agile, multidisciplinary team working on a UK Government flagship reform programme. What you will be doing
You will play a key role in designing, building, and improving new and existing products, platforms, and transactions, working closely with Developers, Designers, and Analysts. The client values collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation over hierarchy and titles:
