Summary: The role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Compute / VMware) focuses on supporting mission-critical financial systems by designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise compute environments. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience, particularly within financial institutions or regulated sectors, and will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, performance, and resilience of critical infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and optimise high-performance compute environments
- Ensure scalability, resilience and maximum uptime of mission-critical systems
- Lead performance tuning, resource optimisation and capacity planning initiatives
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues with minimal disruption
- Integrate strong security controls to protect sensitive financial data
- Collaborate closely with network, storage, system administration and development teams
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure certification/compliance standards are met
- Drive cost-effective infrastructure solutions aligned with business growth
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers
Key Skills:
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise compute environments
- Strong knowledge of VMware vCenter, HPE OneView, HP iLO
- Experience with Microsoft 365, PowerShell & PowerCLI
- Working knowledge of Active Directory
- Strong understanding of networking and storage integration
- Experience within financial services or other regulated environments
