Summary: The role of Senior HR Advisor involves working within a busy HR & Employer Relations team in Chichester, focusing on managing sickness absence and employee relations case management. This 6-month contract requires collaboration with managers to address complex sickness cases and improve overall sickness rates. The position demands a solid HR background, particularly in unionised environments, and emphasizes compliance with UK employment legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload in an advisory capacity, ensuring timely handling of cases.
- Prioritise work and follow-up tasks daily, collaborating with managers and stakeholders.
- Timetable cases to ensure progress within agreed timescales.
- Maintain effective communication with all parties involved.
- Support managers with complex sickness/absences, providing regular reports on sickness rates.
- Review and analyse workforce data, delivering monthly reports on key KPIs for sickness.
- Provide risk-based advice on redeployment, ill health, retirement, or termination.
- Utilise improvement methodologies to identify and address contributors to sickness absence.
Key Skills:
- Solid HR & Employer Relations background in unionised/complex environments.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience.
- Membership or progress towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
- Experience in employee relations within a multidisciplinary organisation.
- Knowledge of current UK employment legislation and compliance risks.
- Experience advising managers on complex cases including disciplinary, capability, and grievance.
- Experience in a multi-unionised environment.
- Awareness of best practice employee relations methodologies.
