Summary: The role of Senior HR Advisor involves providing expert advice and support on attendance management policies and procedures within a public sector organization in Belfast. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive advice, support, and guidance on Attendance Management Policy and Procedure.
- Assist Managers in proactive attendance management through early intervention and communication.
- Offer specialist advice on complex attendance management cases and facilitate management meetings.
- Guide Managers on terms and conditions related to sick pay, injury allowance, and ill health retirement.
- Support Managers in making reasonable adjustments and developing rehabilitation plans.
- Arrange attendance management panels/hearings and prepare associated documentation.
- Communicate pay affecting decisions to the Terms & Conditions Team accurately and timely.
- Contribute to the development of reports related to attendance management and performance metrics.
- Perform any other specific duties as required by the organization.
Key Skills:
- Relevant degree or professional qualification with a minimum of two years’ HR management experience, or five years’ HR experience with two years at middle management level.
- Commitment to acquiring an advanced HR qualification.
- Current full driving licence valid in the UK and access to a car.
- Up-to-date knowledge of NI equality/employment legislation.
- Understanding of employee relations and attendance management processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Conflict resolution skills and experience in partnership working with trade unions.

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Belfast, is currently looking to recruit 2 x Senior HR Advisors – on an initial 3-6 month contract with a rate of £19.10/hour PAYE. These roles will be based on site in Belfast.
Responsibilities:
- To provide comprehensive and consistent advice, support and guidance to Managers and staff in relation to the implementation of the organisation’s Attendance Management Policy and Procedure, terms and conditions as they pertain to attendance management, relevant legislation and evidence based best practice principles.
- To provide advice, support, and guidance to Managers in taking a proactive approach to attendance management, through early intervention, engagement and communication and a focus on rehabilitation and return to work.
- To provide specialist advice, support, and guidance to Managers in the management of complex attendance management cases and ensure productive engagement management/conference meetings.
- To provide specialist advice, support and guidance to Managers and staff in relation to relevant terms and conditions and processes, including sick pay, injury allowance, ill health termination and ill health retirement.
- To provide specialist advice, support, and guidance to Managers in the relation to their statutory responsibility to make reasonable adjustments and in the development and implementation of reasonable adjustment, rehabilitation and redeployment action plans.
- To ensure the arrangement of attendance management panels/hearings, including those relating to injury allowance and ill health termination, in a timely manner and the preparation of all associated documentation to a high standard.
- To ensure any pay affecting decisions are communicated for processing to the Terms & Conditions Team in an accurate and timely way in order to avoid any under/over-payments.
- To contribute to the development and implementation of a suite of Divisional, Directorate and Corporate reports in relation to attendance management and associated performance against agreed KPI’s and targets.
- Carry out any other specific duties as required from the organisation.
Essential Skills:
- Have a relevant degree or recognised professional qualification plus a minimum of two years’ post graduate middle management experience within a Human Resources (HR) function, providing professional advice and guidance on a range of workforce issues OR Have a minimum of five years’ experience two of which must be at a middle management level, within a Human Resources (HR) function, providing professional advice and guidance on a range of workforce issues.
- Have, or commit to acquiring, an advanced (post-graduate) level qualification in HR.
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. (This criterion will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but can demonstrate an alternative means of fulfilling the requirements of the post).
- Have a working, up-to-date knowledge and understanding of NI equality/employment legislation.
- Have a knowledge and understanding of employee relations and attendance management processes.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight timescales within limited resources.
- Demonstrate conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrate experience of constructive partnership working with trade unions in the resolution of workforce issues.
