Senior DevOps Engineer (SC Cleared)

Summary: As a Senior DevOps Engineer with active SC Clearance, you will collaborate in agile teams to design, build, and support AWS-hosted applications while ensuring security and scalability. Your role will involve taking ownership of cloud infrastructure, developing CI/CD pipelines, and leading system performance improvements. This position requires extensive hands-on experience with AWS and infrastructure automation tools. The role is hybrid based in Leeds and is expected to last between 6 to 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively in agile teams delivering services used by a wide range of customers.
• Design, build and support highly available, scalable, and secure AWS-hosted applications.
• Take ownership of cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code principles.
• Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and automation solutions.
• Embed security controls into cloud architectures to mitigate modern threats.
• Lead improvements in system performance, monitoring and observability.
• Ensure DevOps practices are well documented and repeatable.

Key Skills:

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and its security, identity, and compliance services.
• Proven expertise in infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible.
• Experience with AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, etc).
• Strong understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancers, SSL/TLS).
• Proficient in CI/CD processes and tooling (Jenkins, Git, GitHub Actions).
• Deep experience with monitoring and alerting systems (ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Practical knowledge of cloud database services (RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache).
• Ability to document and refine DevOps standards and best practices.
• Eligibility for SC Clearance - must have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
