Summary: The Senior Data Scientist role is a contract position based in Greater Manchester, requiring a professional to lead data science projects within a dynamic, data-driven organization. The successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise to deliver insights that drive business transformation while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This position emphasizes ownership of end-to-end projects, utilizing advanced analytical techniques and large datasets. The role also includes mentoring junior team members and developing machine learning models to solve complex business challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver end-to-end data science projects, from initial exploration to deployment and monitoring.
  • Work with stakeholders across different business functions (e.g., operations, finance, product, etc.) to understand key challenges and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Develop, test, and implement machine learning models such as regression, classification, and time series forecasting.
  • Conduct deep analysis on large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to translate data science solutions into practical business applications.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data science team members.

Key Skills:

  • Python: Advanced proficiency in data manipulation, machine learning, and data science libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, etc.).
  • SQL: Strong skills in querying large datasets and optimizing performance for analysis.
  • Machine Learning: Proven hands-on experience with various techniques including regression, classification, clustering, and time series forecasting.
  • Data Pipelines: Experience in building and maintaining efficient data pipelines to support data science initiatives.
  • Data Visualization: Expertise in using visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or matplotlib) to present complex data insights.
  • End-to-End Project Delivery: Proven experience taking a data science project from concept to deployment, including model evaluation and ongoing monitoring.
