Summary: The Senior Cost Engineer role at Bentley Motors focuses on setting and managing financial targets for unit costs and investments within the automotive industry. Key Responsibilities:
- Set and manage challenging financial targets for unit costs and investments at the module, system, and component levels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance performance through rigorous technical and financial analysis.
- Provide technical and financial insights to support and challenge the design process.
- Drive cost-effective solutions during design reviews and ensure agreed cost targets are achieved.
- Oversee financial performance in unit costs and investments, preparing reports and presentations for senior management.
- Facilitate transparency around risks and opportunities to enhance business performance.
- Actively identify and implement process improvements within your team and the wider organisation to boost productivity and efficiency.
Key Skills:
- Significant knowledge in cost engineering, preferably within the automotive industry.
- Proficient in applying problem-solving techniques to various product, process, and project-related issues.
- Ability to influence the design of new products, understanding technical requirements of both internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of financial accounting processes and principles, with the ability to analyse and interpret financial accounts.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with, assist, advise, encourage, motivate, and lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior managers.
- Demonstrable people management skills, including development, coaching, and mentoring.
- Experience in product cost management, estimating, and process planning within a production and engineering environment.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, practical negotiation skills, cost estimating, and engineering practices.
- Expertise in value analysis, value engineering, and cost modelling techniques.
- Understanding of whole vehicle component and system manufacturing processes and materials.
- Practical knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing techniques and industrial engineering skills.
- Highly competent in using systems and software packages, including advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Office.
- An engineering/manufacturing background would be beneficial.
