Summary: The role of Interior Engineer at Bentley Motors involves designing and developing high-end interior door trim systems for luxury vehicles. The position requires innovative problem-solving skills and collaboration with various teams to ensure quality and style in automotive design. Candidates should have a background in the automotive industry, particularly in developing vehicle OEM Door Trim Systems. This is a 12-month contract based in Crewe, with a focus on both individual and team contributions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design leather-wrapped components using Catia V5 and create detailed drawings.
- Generate and implement innovative concepts to tackle design challenges in collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
- Lead planning and manage project activities on a weekly basis.
- Create design specifications that align with project and system objectives.
- Facilitate cross-functional design reviews, ensuring alignment across teams.
- Oversee external design resources to deliver high-quality designs on time and within budget.
- Support engineering test and validation planning and sign-off for systems and components.
- Represent the Body & Trim R&D department in relevant forums, championing our vision and standards.
- Collaborate agilely with various functions including Production, Project, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and more.
Key Skills:
- Experience in developing vehicle OEM Door Trim Systems or working with Tier 1 Trim suppliers that utilise Catia V5 for component design.
- Experience within an interior department or design partner focusing on complex interior systems.
- Engineering-based degree (Automotive or Mechanical preferred).
- Proven automotive design and development experience.
- Extensive use of Catia V5 for CAD design of leather-wrapped components.
- Project management experience, with the ability to lead without direct reports.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to guide and interrogate effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving, coordination, and organisational skills.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to liaise with all levels within the organisation.
- Knowledge of systems engineering V model for system development.
- Familiarity with VW systems and processes.
- Financial awareness in project management.
