Summary: The Senior Application Support Engineer will provide 3rd line application support for a leading tech client in Manchester, UK. The role involves managing incidents, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. The engineer will also be responsible for proactive maintenance, documentation, and supporting internal projects. This position requires a strong technical background and problem-solving skills to resolve application issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 3rd line application support, managing incidents and escalations through to resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and support teams.
  • Ensure resolution of incidents according to agreed SLAs.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to recreate, debug, identify, and resolve issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis to prevent issue reoccurrence.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for out-of-hours critical incidents.
  • Provide proactive support and maintenance across the application landscape.
  • Create, review, and maintain support documentation for application deployment and configuration.
  • Monitor and deploy application updates and patches.
  • Support internal projects with technical design reviews and environment builds/deployment.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Key Skills:

  • Experience managing Windows Server, IIS, and Active Directory Services.
  • Beneficial experience with Azure AD, Azure IaaS/PaaS.
  • Knowledge of T-SQL (MS SQL) and/or PL/SQL.
  • Minor programming or scripting experience (.NET / PowerShell).
  • Experience using an IT Service Management Tool (e.g., SCSM, Service Now).
  • At least 2 years’ experience within an IT department.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial.
  • Understanding of IT service management processes (e.g., ITIL) is beneficial.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (2012AX or 365) is beneficial.
  • Experience with Office365 administration is beneficial.
  • Experience with software deployment processes/systems (e.g., Octopus Deploy) is beneficial.
