Summary: The role of IBM Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer involves leading the lifecycle management of IBM z/OS MLC/IPLA software and mainframe modernization initiatives. The position requires extensive expertise in system software deployment, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and high availability engineering within a large-scale mainframe environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage core components including zOS, JES2, ISPF, TSO, SDSF, RMF, USS, DFSMS, RACF, COBOL, GDPS, CICS, MQ, OMEGAMON, and Netview
  • Support DB2 ecosystem: DB2 Utilities, Query Tuner, Recovery Manager, Bind Manager, Data Replication, QMF, and Object Compare
  • Deploy and maintain tools like Fault Analyzer, ITCAM, Application Performance Analyzer, IZIO Suite, and System Automation
  • Administer Broadcom tools: CA-DELIVER, CA-VIEW, CA-MIM, CA-SYSVIEW, CA-VANTAGE, CA-VISION, CA-EZTRIEVE
  • Manage BMC tools: Control-M, Control-D, FDRPAS/MOVE
  • Utilize SMP/E, OEM utilities, IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, IDCAMS
  • Leverage ITIL, ServiceNow, and z/OSMF for process automation and change control
  • Package and deploy software across 40 Monoplex LPARs using standardized naming conventions and GDPS scripting
  • Maintain HCD, HMC, PARMLIB, and IPL procedures
  • Configure USS file systems, NFS support, and security policies
  • Perform ABEND diagnosis, dump analysis, and trace implementation
  • Collaborate with teams across storage, networking (VTAM/TCPIP), automation, DB2, CICS, and application development
  • Implement Parallel Sysplex with Data Sharing
  • Drive modernization using zNext infrastructure, API catalogs, and IZIO integration features
  • Promote best practices to enhance security, resiliency, and data recoverability

  • Ability to work during US maintenance windows, including nights and weekends
