Summary: The Financial Support Specialist role involves providing financial business partnering and transaction processing support for BAE Systems within a remote finance team. Candidates should possess strong SAP experience, advanced Excel skills, and a solid understanding of project finance and international currencies. The position includes responsibilities such as financial reporting, cash flow management, and oversight of project accounting. The ideal candidate will also manage a small finance team and contribute to long-term financial planning and budgeting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process monthly transactions, period-end close, and financial reporting/forecasting
- Customer sales invoicing, AR management, credit control, and customer query resolution
- Manage AP payment runs and employee expenses
- Weekly and monthly cashflow reporting and forecasting
- Bank reconciliations and cashbook postings (UK & FX currencies)
- Act as Finance Business Partner to Workplace Services within BAE Systems
- Line management of one Project Accountant
- Lead transaction processing, journal entries, and month-end close activities
- Prepare and review phased budgets and Integrated Business Plans (IBP)
- Ensure compliance with internal financial control frameworks and corporate governance
- Serve as SAP Project Accounting SME for the EITS to FS SAP Transition Project
- Support the Finance Team post-SAP implementation, including close, budgeting, and IBP
- Finance Business Partner support for Applied Intelligence and Nightworks business units
- Project accounting oversight for 4065 live projects (MOD-related)
- Prepare and review Contract Status Reports (CSR) and Summary Status Reports (SSR)
- Manage a small finance team: 1 Project Accountant, 2 Finance Assistants
- Participate in the Shared Services Senior Finance Team and report to the Finance Director
- Support long-term financial planning (5-Year IBP) and lead regular forecast reviews
- Provide financial guidance for project delivery and new business opportunities
- Assist with pricing and costing models for bids; support commercial team on RFBA preparations
- Contribute to monthly financial reporting processes including risk and opportunity assessments (Os & Vs)
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with SAP (Ariba, Fiori, CERPS), especially in transaction reporting
