Summary: The Mainframe Storage Consultant role requires expertise in IBM DS8000 series enterprise storage systems and mainframe tape technologies. The consultant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing storage solutions in z/OS environments, ensuring optimal performance and capacity planning. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage IBM DS8000 series storage solutions for z/OS mainframe environments.
- Configure and maintain mainframe-attached tape subsystems (e.g., IBM TS7700 Virtual Tape Library, 3490/3590 tape systems).
- Manage disk and tape storage allocation, performance tuning, replication, and disaster recovery (DR) readiness.
- Monitor storage capacity, utilization trends, and plan for future growth.
- Perform performance tuning of DS8000 and tape environments to ensure optimal throughput and minimal latency.
- Troubleshoot I/O bottlenecks and storage connectivity issues.
- Optimize HSM (Hierarchical Storage Management) and DFSMShsm policies for tape/disk usage efficiency.
