Summary: The role of Locum Licensing Lawyer involves providing legal advice and representation primarily in licensing matters for a Local Authority in East Anglia. The position is part-time, predominantly remote, and requires attendance at court as necessary. The ideal candidate should have relevant experience and knowledge in licensing law, particularly in Magistrates Court proceedings. This is a temporary position lasting three months with an hourly rate of up to £55.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake all aspects of Licensing proceedings in Magistrates Court and associated appeals.
- Provide Licensing advice to the Licensing Authority.
- Act as Legal Adviser for Local Authority at Committee and Sub-Committee hearings, including handling taxi licenses/appeals.
- Draft and issue relevant proceedings in the Magistrates and/or County Court.
- Review and interpret new legislation and advise officers on the impact of changes on their departments.
Key Skills:
- Prior experience working within a Local Authority.
- Knowledge of Licensing matters.
- Ability to provide legal advice and representation.
- Strong drafting skills for legal documents.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and its implications.
