Summary: The Identity Data Protection Engineer will oversee the administration of data classification and protection systems, collaborating with technical and business teams to identify and label data. This role involves managing platforms such as Veritas Data Insight and Microsoft Purview, as well as learning new technologies like SailPoint Data Access Security. The engineer will also analyze complex software and hardware issues while ensuring adherence to change management processes. The position is a 12-month contract based remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Veritas Data Insight platform, including creating data usage reports, integrating new data sources, deploying policies, and generating sensitive information tags.
  • Manage the Microsoft Purview security center and Entra ID related to Conditional Access policies, Sensitivity Labels, and data classification.
  • Learn the SailPoint Data Access Security product to maximize its effectiveness in discovering sensitive data.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the management team.

Key Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience using Veritas Data Insight, particularly in policy and report creation.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Microsoft 365 Purview security controls.
  • Experience with data classification policies and the ability to identify and assign policies.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft CoPilot and SailPoint is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, task management, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and produce positive results.
  • Attention to detail and a desire to learn new technologies.
  • 3-5 years working in an IT organization.
  • Previous experience in an FDA regulated environment is a plus.

Position: Identity Data Protection Engineer
Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months to start
Job Description:
This person will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the data classification and protection systems. This person will consult with members of the technical and business communities to identify and label data. S/he will analyze and resolve complex software and hardware problems and ensure that the correct processes are followed in change management for tracking and reproducibility.

  • Manage the Veritas Data Insight platform. Create data usage reports, integrate new sources of Vertex data, create and deploy policies, generate sensitive information tags, create usage metrics for senior leadership, and other tasks related to identifying/tagging data through the Data Insight platform
  • Manage the Microsoft Purview security center and Entra ID as it relates to Conditional Access policies, Sensitivity Labels, data classification and tagging, CoPilot dashboards, creation of metrics, and creating training material to expand adoption of identifying and tagging data using Microsoft 365 Sensitivity Labels.
  • Learn new SailPoint Data Access Security product and how we can maximize its effectiveness to discover sensitive data and generate ownership/usage reports for data owners.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the management team.

Requirements:

  • Must have 3-5 years of experience using Veritas Data Insight, especially policy creation, report creation and DQL.
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience with Microsoft 365 Purview security controls.
  • Must have experience with data classification policies and proven abilities to identify data and assign policies accordingly.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft CoPilot as it relates to data discovery is a plus.
  • Experience supporting SailPoint is a plus.
  • Ability to work well with peers and all levels of management.
  • Must be able to work independently and produce positive results.
