Summary: The Head of Movement Building (maternity cover) at Uplift is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support a just transition away from oil and gas in the UK. This role involves leading coalition-building efforts, managing a team, and ensuring effective campaign strategies are in place. The position is remote within the UK and is a 12-month contract. The ideal candidate will have experience in campaigning and coalition management, with a strong commitment to climate justice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts to broaden and diversify the movement supporting a just transition away from oil and gas in the UK.
- Develop and refine Uplift's movement building strategy in collaboration with the Head of Campaigns.
- Design mobilising and organising approaches for group participation in campaigns.
- Coordinate coalitions dedicated to phasing out fossil fuels and facilitate meetings with diverse partners.
- Monitor the health and efficacy of existing coalitions and develop strategies for improvement.
- Map the climate justice and social justice movement landscape relevant to Uplift's work.
- Line manage up to 4 members of the Campaigns team and support their professional development.
- Represent the Campaigns and Movement Building Team as part of the Senior Management Team.
- Support the broader Campaign team in movement building and coalition management.
- Develop campaign resources in collaboration with partners and networks.
- Provide campaign advice to partners and community groups.
- Promote regenerative practices and culture within the team and coalitions.
