Summary: This role seeks an experienced GCP Cloud Engineer to establish Google Cloud environments from the ground up as part of a large-scale transformation program. The position emphasizes DevOps, cloud engineering, and automation, with a focus on transitioning legacy systems to a modern data platform. The engineer will also be responsible for training existing team members and driving engineering excellence within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the build and maintenance of Cloud platforms (predominately GCP).
• Take accountability for the end-to-end delivery of public cloud pathfinder initiatives.
• Work across continuous integration, development, build, and deployment using automation and cloud technologies.
• Build automation jobs for CI/CD development, build, and deployment of applications on Cloud.
• Manage complex infrastructure environments and collaborate with SaaS providers for improvements.
• Support test environments, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless DevOps delivery.
• Influence and advocate for technical aspects of the public cloud journey.
• Train existing team members for operational continuity of cloud infrastructure.
• Consult with stakeholders and drive engineering excellence.

Key Skills:

• Proven experience deploying and managing GCP infrastructure using Terraform or similar services.
• Strong understanding of GCP security and best practices in Public Cloud security.
• Experience deploying virtual machines and Docker containers in a Public Cloud environment.
• Good understanding of CI/CD, preferably with GitHub Actions.
• Proficient in YAML, Python, and Shell Scripting.
• Monitoring skills for performance and cost management.
• Practical understanding of financial management in the cloud and FinOps concepts.
• Desirable: Knowledge of micro-service architecture, cloud data warehouses, Active Directory integration, monitoring tools, and Azure Cloud experience.
