Hours: 8 hours flexibly per week     (the role may require some evening & weekend work).

Nature of contract: Freelance - Fixed Term until 31 st August 2027

Reporting to: Chairperson, Board of Trustees

Pay: £20.00 per hour

We work to strengthen community voice, promote the value of green spaces, and support greater investment, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability in our public spaces.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive freelance administrator to support our growing work. Working remotely and reporting to the NFPGS Chair, you will play a vital role in keeping our communications, networks, documents and activities well-coordinated and effective. You will need to be a confident communicator, digitally literate, and passionate about community green space movements.

Key Responsibilities

  • CONTACTS
  • Maintain and regularly update national forum contact lists.
  • Phone area forum leads to gather updates and strengthen links and networks.
  • COMMUNICATIONS
  • Produce and distribute regular email newsletters to our members.
  • Maintain and refresh content on the Parks Community UK (PCUK) platform and our website.
  • Support and grow engagement on the parksforumsuk email list.
  • Explore and recommend new social media or digital communication tools.
  • COORDINATION & NETWORK SUPPORT
  • Support the organisation of NFPGS General Meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
  • Support Regional Network meetings and communications.
  • Explore and help initiate issue-based, peer-to-peer NFPGS Working Groups
  • Assist with trustee recruitment and onboarding.
  • DOCUMENTS & REPORTING
  • Assist in the development of the Better Friends State of the Movement 2025 report.
  • Format and support dissemination of other NFPGS documents.
  • Help design and circulate relevant surveys to member forums.
  • INCLUSION & REPRESENTATION
  • Promote and help embed the Inclusion Checklist across networks.
  • Gather and compile inclusion-focused case studies from across the UK.
  • FUNDRAISING (DESIRABLE)
  • Provide basic administrative support for funding applications and bid coordination.
  • Help track funding opportunities and deadlines.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Proven administration or coordination experience (freelance or employed)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident using digital tools (email, marketing platforms, social media, website management)
  • Highly organised, with ability to manage workload independently.
  • Commitment to community empowerment, equity and green spaces

Desirable:

  • Experience working with community or voluntary sector organisations.
  • Understanding of UK parks movement or similar grassroots networks
  • Experience supporting remote teams or distributed organisations.
  • Familiarity with fundraising processes
