Summary: The Carbon Specialist role focuses on supporting the Environment Agency's Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCRM) programme by managing carbon effectively and promoting sustainability initiatives. The position involves conducting carbon assessments, influencing project teams towards low-carbon solutions, and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation. Candidates will receive training in carbon assessment and are expected to respond to incidents as part of their duties. This role is part of a national team and requires collaboration across multiple geographic hubs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support delivery of the FCRM capital programme by managing carbon effectively.
- Conduct Carbon Assessment and Verification processes to meet corporate targets.
- Promote low-carbon thinking and provide insights into decarbonisation technologies.
- Verify projects' consideration of carbon reduction opportunities and assess performance against carbon budgets.
- Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support as required.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams to effect sustainable change.
