Summary: The Aerospace Fuselage Quality Engineer will ensure the structural integrity and compliance of aircraft fuselage systems and components for a major aerospace customer. This role involves overseeing inspection processes, resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations. The position is based on-site in Belfast and is classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance standards and procedures specific to fuselage structures.
  • Perform inspections and audits of fuselage components during manufacturing, assembly, and pre-delivery.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications to validate conformance.
  • Investigate non-conformities and lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics for fuselage components.
  • Support supplier quality management for fuselage-related parts and materials.
  • Participate in Material Review Boards (MRB) and disposition of non-conforming materials.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation for traceability and regulatory compliance.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing quality, preferably with fuselage structures.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with GD&T, CATIA/3D CAD software, and technical drawing interpretation.
  • Familiarity with composite and/or metallic fuselage materials and joining techniques.
  • Proficient in quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience on metallic fuselage barrels would be very beneficial.
