Summary: The Quality Engineer role in Argyll, Scotland, involves providing Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) support to ensure compliance and right-first-time delivery across project activities. The position requires a strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a regulated industry. The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home, with an immediate start needed. SC Clearance or the ability to obtain it is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide QA/QC support and expertise to the project team
- Develop strong working relationships with suppliers and site stakeholders
- Support the identification and flow-down of quality requirements to the supply chain
- Collaborate with DIO and supplier quality teams to ensure lessons learned are captured and shared
- Support Project Management and Functional Leads in establishing project procedures, processes and plans
- Review enquiry, tender and contract documentation including ITPs, Quality Plans, Specifications
- Attend site regularly to plan and manage on-site inspections and surveillance activities
- Conduct internal quality audits, supplier audits and health checks
- Monitor quality performance against KPIs and identify improvement areas
- Oversee supplier installation, manufacturing, FATs, SATs and release inspections
- Support management of NCRs, Defect Notifications, Quality risks and opportunities
- Conduct investigations and root cause analysis
- Coordinate Lifetime Quality Records and final document packs
- Liaise with Third Party Representatives and Government Quality Assurance Representatives (GQARs)
- Additional responsibilities may be introduced as the project develops
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding and implementation of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quality Engineering delivery role within a highly regulated or high-integrity industry
- Experience working across multiple projects and technical disciplines
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong report writing skills
- Understanding of Nuclear/Defence environments (desirable)
- Knowledge of nuclear compliance, legislation and quality requirements including AQAP 2110 / 2105 (desirable)
- Experience on refurbishment works, specifically Fixed cranes, ECI works, Mechanical & Electrical services (desirable)
- SC Clearance or ability to obtain prior to commencement
- Industry-recognised auditor qualification (e.g. ISO 9001 Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor)
- HNC Level 4 or above in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
- Professional membership in a relevant discipline (e.g. CQI / IRCA) (desirable)
- Industry-recognised NDE/NDT qualification such as PCN CSWIP (desirable)
