Summary: The Quality Assurance Risk Lead for the Sizewell C Nuclear Project plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance and quality assurance across a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at supporting the UK's Net Zero goals. This position involves integrating assurance activities, conducting audits, and managing compliance risks to ensure the project's success. The role requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to drive quality interventions and report on audit outcomes. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a nuclear power station that will provide electricity to millions of homes for decades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate assurance activities across three Lines of Defense (Project Delivery, Internal Audit, Independent Nuclear Assurance)
- Develop and execute risk-based audit schedules aligned with project milestones
- Coordinate audit activities to avoid duplication and effectively address project risks
- Conduct targeted audits and inspections to support project quality interventions
- Manage compliance and non-conformance tracking
- Facilitate root cause analysis and ensure lessons learned are applied across the project
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on audit outcomes and compliance risks
- Support development of dashboards and metrics to visualize audit progress and risk trends
Key Skills:
- Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, or related field
- Extensive experience in internal audits, nuclear assurance, or quality management
- Comprehensive understanding of Three Lines of Defense model
- Expert knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 14001)
- Strong understanding of nuclear regulatory frameworks
- Proficiency in audit and risk management tools (e.g., Power BI)
- Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence and drive behavioural change
- Strong communication and presentation capabilities
- Decisive decision-making with ability to craft compelling arguments
- Experience leading small teams in assurance or audit functions
- Ability to work across assurance functions, risk management, and project teams
- Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) - desirable
- Technical knowledge of nuclear safety design - desirable
- Experience working with regulators in dynamic environments - desirable
- Problem-solving expertise in complex infrastructure projects - desirable
- Previous nuclear industry experience - desirable
