Summary: The Principal Engineer (Building Services) role involves leading the design and development of various building services systems, including HVAC and fire detection systems, within a nuclear industry context. The position requires providing technical oversight to a design team and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This is a hybrid role for a duration of 6 months, emphasizing collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and leadership skills in electrical design engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and development of Building Services, Control Systems, HVAC systems, and Fire Detection Systems.
- Provide technical oversight to a small-to-medium design team, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Apply nuclear industry design standards and ensure adherence to regulatory and safety requirements.
- Utilise specialist design software tools including AutoCAD, AMTECH, Dialux, and PDMS/Aviva 3D.
- Report progress, risks, and issues to senior stakeholders.
Key Skills:
- 10+ years' experience as an Electrical Design Engineer.
- 5+ years' experience working within the nuclear industry.
- Chartered Electrical Engineer (or equivalent professional qualification).
- Proven experience in Building Services, Control Systems, HVAC systems, and Fire Detection Systems.
- Strong leadership skills with experience overseeing design teams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AMTECH, Dialux, and PDMS / Aviva 3D.
