Summary: The GIS Developer role involves supporting the IS GIS Development Team within a public sector context, focusing on automating workflows and managing spatial data using various ArcGIS tools. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Python scripts and ArcGIS toolboxes to automate data processing.
- Create and manage mosaic datasets and raster function templates (RFTs).
- Support the conversion of raster datasets to Cloud Optimised GeoTIFFs and manage data in Azure storage.
- Assist with publishing and maintaining image services and web layers.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure outputs align with spatial data standards and operational requirements.
Key Skills:
- Solid experience using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise for spatial data management and analysis.
- Proficiency in Python, particularly with arcpy, for automating geoprocessing workflows.
- Familiarity with mosaic datasets, Raster Function Templates (RFTs), and publishing image services.
- Understanding of British National Grid (BNG) and spatial reference systems.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and translate it into practical tools and scripts.
- Experience working with raster data, including pre- and post-processing techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Harvey Nash's Public Sector Client are looking to bring in a contract GIS Developer to support the IS GIS Development Team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Development Unit to translate technical workflows into automated scripts and geoprocessing models using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Image Server and ArcGIS Enterprise.
