Summary: The Principal Electrical Engineer role involves leading LV and MV electrical design for complex infrastructure projects, particularly in nuclear and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead LV and MV electrical design on complex infrastructure projects.
  • Specify MV/LV Transformers and validate Vendor designs at design and FAT stages.
  • Specify GI/GNI distribution systems and validate Vendor designs at design and FAT stages.
  • Produce electrical engineering deliverables including calculations, load schedules, and technical evaluations.
  • Guide designers in producing electrical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Utilize power modelling software for electrical design tasks.
  • Understand schedule constraints and information requirements from other disciplines.
  • Contribute to 3D engineering models and understand Human Factors in engineering design.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation or Control Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering design in relevant industries.
  • Ability to work in multi-discipline teams and coordinate activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The Opportunity Principal Electrical Engineer to support A800 LV and Small Power design team. Stockton preferred other locations will be considered.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

Essential Task Experience

  • In depth knowledge of British Standards and regulations applicable to electrical system design.
  • Specification of MV/LV Transformers including validating Vendor designs against requirements at Vendor design and FAT stages.
  • Specification of GI/GNI distribution systems including validating Vendor designs against requirements at Vendor design and FAT stages.
  • Input to mechanical / process / machine specifications from a electrical perspective.
  • Production of electrical engineering deliverables including, calculations including load schedules, cable sizing calculations, electrical equipment data sheets, reports and technical bid evaluations.
  • Guide designers in the production of electrical drawings including SLDs, schematics, specifications, models, datasheets, reports, and evaluations.
  • Proficient in power modelling software (Trimble, SKM Power tools)
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements from other disciplines required for the production of electrical deliverables.

Complementary Task Experience

  • Have a good understanding of Human Factors role in engineering design.
  • Experience with production of, or input to 3D engineering models.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation or Control Engineering
  • 15+ years’ experience working in engineering design in the nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, mechanical handling or water industries.
  • Familiar in working in multi-discipline teams evidencing ability to coordinate activities with other disciplines and engineering departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly and develop innovative ideas to novel problems.
  • Engineering Leadership skills; ability to provide technical direction, coordinate, and check work completed by senior and junior engineers.
  • Ability to manage and progress work independently requiring limited intervention from the engineering management team.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to efficiently develop documentation using appropriate technical language to describe processes, ideas, and designs.
  • Good presentation and communication skills when facing Client.
