Summary: The Platform Specialist role at a North West London Local Authority involves managing and optimizing Microsoft 365, E5, Defender, and Sentinel within the IT function. This position requires a technical expert to ensure service stability and contribute to strategic initiatives. The role is part of a 6-month contract with a hybrid working arrangement. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the administration and optimisation of Microsoft 365, E5, Defender, Sentinel, Azure AD, Endpoint Manager, Exchange Online and SharePoint
  • Oversee and maintain the council's production Servers, backups, cloud environments and Internet security infrastructure
  • Act as a technical escalation point, providing third-line support across the Microsoft stack
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to support staff, ensuring high service levels and robust issue resolution
  • Manage infrastructure change requests and represent the team at Change Advisory Boards (CAB)
  • Contribute to technology strategy, supplier management and budget control (up to £4m capex and £2m opex)

Key Skills:

  • Deep technical expertise in Office 365, E5, Defender, Sentinel, Azure AD, Windows Server, SCCM, Intune and PowerShell
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure for a large organisation (2000+ users)
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes and infrastructure governance
  • Track record of delivering secure, stable platforms and resolving complex incidents
  • Experience managing teams and coordinating cross-functional technical work
  • Experience working within a public sector or local government environment

6 month contract | £500/day (Inside IR35) | Hybrid (3 days/week onsite, 2 days/week WFH)

A North West London Local Authority is looking for a highly skilled Platform Specialist to join their Transformation and Technology division on an initial 6 month contract.

This is a key technical role within the council's IT function, supporting enterprise-level infrastructure, collaboration tools and cloud platforms. You'll be the subject matter expert across Microsoft 365, E5, Defender, and Sentinel ensuring day-to-day service stability while also contributing to strategic roadmaps and governance.
